Getting From Munich To Anywhere

Visitors to Munich will be well aware that the public transport system in the city makes Getting Around Munich a breeze, but similarly, further travel from Munich to Anywhere in Europe, or the world for that matter, is just as easy.

Munich is THE major travel hub in Bavaria, the 11th largest city in the European Union, and the 3rd largest metropolis in Germany, so it has plenty of onward transport options including travel undertaken by car, train, plane, bus, cycle, and even on foot!

The Munich Airport – Flughafen München – now sits as the 6th most connected airport in Europe according to the Official Airline Guide (OAG). Franz Josef Strauß Airport as it is called locally currently offers flights from over 60 airlines to 220+ destinations.

The 2020 European Railway Station Index reveals that Munich Central Train Station – München Hauptbahnhof – was the 5th BEST train station in Europe based on serviced destinations, passenger accessibility, low number of industrial action days, facilities, shops, services & more.

And the Munich Central Bus Station – Zentraler Omnibusbahnhof München – is one of Europe’s most modern bus stations. Affectionately known as the ZOB München, this sleek bus hub offers destinations to all reaches of mainland Europe and beyond!

Traveling outward from Munich by car, thanks to an amazing road and motorway network, is quick and painless and there are dozens and dozens of cycleways (that double as footpaths) that criss-cross Bavaria fanning out from Munich with many even reaching beyond into neighbouring Austria.

So whilst for some, onward travel from the Bavarian capital can be a challenge, the reality is that with proper research and planning, Getting From Munich to Anywhere is actually very simple.
